EARTHING REDUCES MUSCLE PAIN AFTER EXERCISE
Earthing, and certainly sleeping grounded, will aid recovery after intense exercise.

MUSCULAR PAIN IS A SIGN OF INFLAMMATION
When exercising, tissues are stressed (and in strength training, muscle tissue is even deliberately destroyed, to achieve muscle growth), creating more free radicals than when not exercising. Because all these free radicals are created, the body has to defuse them first, making the body's recovery take longer.

WITH EARTHING YOU EASILY RECEIVE THE MOST POTENT ANTIOXIDANTS FOR FASTER RECOVERY AFTER EXERCISE
An antioxidant supplementation is then definitely recommended for athletes, as the recovery time is significantly reduced. And by grounding, the body gets the simplest and most potent form of antioxidants!

On labels of sports and energy drinks, you will find the mention of the ORAC value. The ORAC value indicates the level of antioxidants; the higher the ORAC value, the better. An antioxidant is a molecule that inhibits the oxidation of other molecules with oxygen. Oxidation is a chemical reaction of electrons or hydrogen. When oxidising, free radicals can form and this process damages cells.  In turn, these radicals can cause chain reactions. When this reaction occurs, cells can be damaged or killed, making you less likely to recover from muscle pain, for example. Indeed, antioxidants end these chain reactions by removing free radicals.

Electrons of the earth work in a similar way to antioxidants and are more potent. They improve the absorption of nutrients into the cells and the release of waste from the cells into the body to be eliminated. The immune system improves, the inflammatory response that is muscle pain is cleared faster and earthing increases your energy levels.

SPORTS, SCIENCE IN RELATION TO EARTHING
Athletes often use science to improve their performance. The fact that grounding plays an important role in this is scientifically proven, but has also been amply demonstrated in practice.

In Austria, scientists from the University of Salzburg conducted a scientific study in early 2019 on the effects of grounded sleep after intense physical exertion. The result was that grounded sleep resulted in faster recovery from muscle pain and inflammation that occurs after intense physical exertion. They concluded that grounded sleep can be seen as a simple method to promote acute and long-term recovery after intense physical exertion.

The book "Earthing" page 86 describes the scientific study, which showed that in a group of 8 healthy men aged 20 to 23, who experienced muscle pain after a heavy sporting effort in which they all developed muscle pain, those who slept grounded had less muscle pain and recovered faster from the muscle pain.

EARTHING FOR RECREATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES
You don't have to be a professional athlete to benefit from grounded sleep after sporting exertion. For instance, we heard from a woman in her eighties that she used to need to recover for a few days after her gym morning, but that since she sleeps grounded, she is fit again the next day.

So grounded sleep has a positive effect on recovery after athletic efforts at any level and for any age!
